Getting Started

Joining Prepper Link? Read this first! Thank you for considering Prepper Link as a means to connect with other like-minded individuals. As you can see the site is growing, maybe not as fast as we hoped, but it is getting there. The staff at Prepper Link is taking an aggressive approach to get more individuals on the site, and network with other Prepper/Survivalists websites.  The truth is word of mouth is the fastest way to grow, so if you like what you see - please invite your friends.

While there are many different sites on the net that cater to the Prepping Community, we are taking a different approach. First, we are providing an integrated web-based system for connecting with other people. This is not just a forum or article commenting, while you can do both on the site. Our Get Connected feature provides many different capabilities, which include personal messaging, chat, group creation, event planning, recruitment, and discussion areas.

Additionally, we are currently developing two web-based databases that will assist in equipment inventories and food storage tracking.  Both are totally optional, and you can decide if you want to utilize them. We understand that every individual has different security considerations, but we wanted to build these applications to help out people that will use them. So be patient, while will continue to build the site.

Step 1: Take the Prepper’s Mindset Survey

Before creating an account, we recommend that you take the Prepper’s Mindset Survey. This will allow you to identify your confrontation approach, establish the time period you think an event will last, identify the current population cluster you live in, identify your group tolerance, identify your current and future survival plan, and capture how you feel about weapons. The responses you provide will not be passed to a third party, as we are using your responses to gauge our user base.

If you have already created an account, you can always update your profile. Please see Updating Profile.

Step 2: Create an Account

Since personal data is everyone’s top concern, please read the following section so that you understand what is going on when you create an account. Your account is no different than it would be on any other website or forum. It contains personal information. You must determine which information you are comfortable releasing to other Prepper Link members, your Prepper Link friends, or you can restrict information so only you can view it.

When creating an account, we recommend that you do not restrict the city and state that you reside in, as these fields will be used by other Prepper Link members and groups to connect with you. When conducting searches, any member or group can chose a set of parameters to query the user database. If all of your information is restricted so that only you can view it, then no one will be able to reach out to you. Again, this is a choice that you have to make, and at any time you can change how your profile is viewed by other members.

You can restrict which information is viewed by others, simply by clicking the lock icon located next to each field, and selecting the view rights. Choose from Public, Site Members, Friends, or Only Me.

Fields we recommend to restrict.

1. Birthdate

2. Mobile Phone

3. Land Phone

Step 3: Updating Profile

If you have already created an account, or would like to modify how your account is viewed by other members, please follow these steps:

To edit how your profile is viewed, hover over the Profile tab, and select Edit Profile. Or, you can follow this link

From the Edit Profile page, you will notice lock icons next to each field. Select the lock, and then select the view rights. You can choose: Public, Site Members, Friends, or Only Me.

Fields we recommend to restrict.

1. Birthdate

2. Mobile Phone

3. Land Phone
